All bra's fit differently

You know that different shop’s clothing fits differently, and that you are different shoe sizes from different manufacturers.
Bras are no different! In fact, they’re probably worse than clothing and shoes due to the cup sizing and shapes available.
So, why do most women think that they are a 34D, or a 36HH, and that’s that? I have no idea, but we would like to educate them to understand bra sizing more, helping them to save money and hopefully get them more comfortable in general with their bras.

Firstly, there’s this thing called CROSS SIZING. That is, a 34D cup, is the same as a 36C, and a 32DD in the SAME BRA! But, it’s also useful when looking at other styles. One style may be quite firm around the band, but the next you try on is looser. If the cup is OK, then reduce the band size, but INCREASE the cup size to keep the cup volume the size you need.

The other thing to be aware of is that all companies use different sizing structures. There is a growing closeness of these, but UK sizing is different to European sizing and US sizing; and then some companies don’t use FF, but jump from an F to a G!
There are also some companies that use the double letters as a half size increase, such as Panache. So you may need to increase 2 cup sizes to what you would usually, to get the full size increase you need if the first size is too small. Don’t be scared to increase the cup size to what you feel comfortable in. At the end of the day, who cares what the size label says? All you should care about is, is the bra comfy? Because at the end of the day, you are the one who is wearing it.
Below I have drawn up a couple of charts to help you find the right size bra for you.

When you’re properly fitted for a bra, don’t be surprised if they bring in different sizes for you to try. It’s not the label you need to think about, it’s the style and size.
When buying online, ask us at Juicy Lingerie for assistance about how the bra fits and it’s sizing structure. And remember, that the style of the bra is much more important than the size.
Different fabrics are firmer than others. Even black and white bras in the same design fit differently! (the dye tightens the weave of the fabric so black fits firmer than white!).
Don’t be frightened of buying bras that are different sizes to what you are used to and we will always be happy to advise you!

Juicy Lingerie Bra Fitting Guide

How to measure yourself for a bra
Did you know that recent research suggests that more than 2/3 of us girls are wearing the wrong bra size?  It’s vital that you find your correct size to ensure that your bra remains comfortable for the duration of the day and doesn’t make you feel like your being constricted. Here at Juicy Lingerie, we have a comprehensive sizing guide to help you find the best fit for you. Just follow the guide below:
Measuring your bra size:
  1. Your Bra Size (underbust)
Firstly you will need to measure around your body under your bust. From here it can be a bit tricky but don’t despair, its quite easy. Basically if the measurement is an even number, then add 4 inches (or 10cm), or in the case of an odd number, then add 5 inches (12.5cm).

An example is: If you measure and find that you are 30inches (75cm) then you add 4 inches (10cm), so your correct bust size is 34inches (85cm). If you measure and find that you are 31inches (77.5cm) then you add 5 inches so this means you are 36 inches (90cm).
  2. Your Cup Size (overbust)
This time, just measure around the fullest part of your bust. You simply subtract the measurement that you just took from your bra size worked out above. Now the last bit is to check out the chart below to see the size you are in cup.

Common problems & tips for finding the correct bra size

If...

  1. the underwire in your bra is poking or pinching you in the chest, this indicates that you need to go up a cupsize or select a softer bra without wire.
  2. the straps slip off your shoulders, then you should opt for a bra with wider straps.
  3. you notice the bust is sagging down then you should shorten the straps or choose a more supportive style of bra with less stretchy fabric.
  4. you find the bra riding up at the back, then you can adjust the hook & eye, loosen the straps or try a smaller band size like a 32 instead of 34.
  5. the band is too tight, then you can either get one with a wider band or opt for a larger size 36 instead of a 34 for example.
  6. you notice bulging either from the sides or the cups overflow, then you need to go up a band size or a cup size respectively.
  7. you find that your shoulders are sore then you should go for a bra with padded or wider straps
We hope our bra sizing guide helps you!
